About

Mary’s grain and livestock farm upbringing led her to receive a Bachelor of Science from University of Wisconsin-Platteville in Agricultural Business and a Juris Doctorate with a certificate in Agricultural and Food Law from Drake University Law School. She graduated from Drake University Law School with Honors as a result of her academic achievements and as the class’s Outstanding Student Leader due to her leadership and involvement on campus during her time at the Law School. 

Mary served as the Associate Editor and was published in the Drake Journal of Agricultural Law. The title of her article is The Western Frontier: The Political Battle of the National Monument Lands and its Effect on Public Lands and the Beef Industry. Her work has also been published by Iowa State University’s Center for Agricultural Law and Taxation. There, her published writing was entitled Stray Voltage and Dairy Farms Can Lead to Large Damage Awards.  

Mary is admitted to the Iowa Bar. She currently serves on the Iowa State Bar Association's Agricultural Law Section Council and Corporate Counsel Section Council.  

Mary, her husband Andrew, and their daughter Doris reside in Lohrville, Iowa. The couple enjoys actively farming the family’s Calhoun County fifth-generation farm.

Locally, Mary serves on the Calhoun County Extension Council and the Stewart Memorial Hospital Board. Additionally, she is active in PEO, an organization focused on women's education and scholarship.
